Detective Stacey

Stacey is a Detective Supervisor for the Los Angeles Police Department.

Stacey is a Detective Supervisor for the Los Angeles Police Department where she is assigned as a homicide investigator in South LA where she has worked since 2005.  In this capacity she works on a daily basis with survivors and their families where one of the worst, and most violent crimes has impacted them and changed the course of their lives permanently.  Although she has worked a variety of assignments in her twenty five years as a police officer, being a homicide investigator is her passion.

Born and raised in Chicago, Stacey made her way to Los Angeles following college to pursue a career as a lawyer specializing in Children’s Rights, when she did a course change and joined the LAPD in 1996.  Stacey spent the majority of her career in South Los Angeles working patrol, a special problems unit on bikes, a uniformed and plain clothed Crime Suppression Unit, and multiple tours in the department’s gang unit, before going to homicide where she has made her home and spent most of the remiainder of her career.

Stacey believes in the Homicide Investigator’s Credo, which says:

“No greater honor will ever be bestowed on an officer or more profound duty imposed on them than when they are entrusted with the investigation of the death of a human being.

It is their duty to find the facts regardless of color or creed without prejudice and to let no power on earth deter them from presenting these facts to the court without regard to personality.”

Stacey has been personally effected by the very crime she has devoted most of her career to investigating when she lost a close friend to a domestic violence murder in 2015.

Stacey has a daily practice of “personal work” that focuses on her health, mindfulness, and healing by the way of incorporating breathwork, yoga, heat and cold exposure, and movement that varies from traditional exercise and sports, to a variety of practices that work the physical, mental, and emotional self.  She is a Certified XPT Breath Coach, and she also has a newfound interest in bio-hacking where she is on a quest to learn and incorporate more ways to bio-hack her life and minimize the effects of stress on the body and mind.  She is passionate about protecting victims and fighting for them, and works equally hard on finding a balance to that fight when she’s off duty in her personal time
